General comments
Recidieven kunnen optreden, vooral indien de profylaxe niet wordt gecontinueerd.
Indien chloroquine (of hydroxychloroquine) niet beschikbaar is, dan kan worden behandeld conform het advies bij Malaria tropica.
De diagnostiek en behandeling van malaria dient altijd in overleg met de consulent kinderinfectieziekten/arts-microbioloog plaats te vinden.
Malaria is een meldingsplichtige ziekte groep C
