General comments
Onder een gecompliceerde appendicits valt: necrose, perforatie of abces
Houdt rekening met het resultaat van eerder afgenomen kweken en recent antibiotica gebruik.
Antibiotica, voor zover mogelijk, stroomlijnen op basis van de kweekuitslagen (puskweek, bloedkweek).
Gentamicine/tobramycine mede van belang voor het verbreden van het spectrum bij toenemende resistentie. Gentamicine/tobramycine kan éénmalig gegeven worden, ook wanneer er sprake is van nierfunctiestoornissen. Aminoglycosiden zijn matig effectief in een zuur milieu (pus), chirurgische controle is dus essentieel.
